When To Take Engagement Photos

When To Take Engagement Photos
Engagement photos can be done at any time before the wedding, but I recommend 4-6 months before. This allows you to use your engagement pictures in almost any way you would like. You’ll have time to print them, have a book or wedding favors made, or anything else you would like to do with your photos.
Do You Use Engagement Photos For Save-The-Dates?
Many couples choose to use their engagement pictures for the save-the-date cards. They can be a fun way of introducing yourselves as a couple to any family that hasn’t met your soon-to-be spouse. It’s also a great way to introduce your wedding colors so your guests can start to think about a gift.
If you choose to use your engagement pictures in your save-the-date cards, I recommend having your pictures taken 6 months before the wedding. If not, 4 months should do. We can even do them just a few weeks before the wedding!
I highly recommend not skipping the engagement session. Not only is there no extra charge for my engagement sessions, but it gives us a chance to get to know each other a little. I promise, you’ll be happy you did engagement photos!
What Is The Best Time To Take Engagement Photos Outside?
On the Central Coast of California, there is rarely a time that is not good. Abundant sunshine and long, warm summers make it easy to find a great time for photos.
The best time of day for engagement sessions really depends on the location. Beaches tend to get windy in the afternoon, but the sunsets are gorgeous. Many hiking trails are fantastic for engagement photos and the abundant shade on many trails means that any time of day works well.
Morning engagement sessions work well because the weather is the most cooperative before noon. A little cloud cover is ideal and will give you a beautiful background for your photos.
So, I guess there isn’t really a single best time for engagement pictures. Let me know what you are thinking as far as location goes and I can recommend some times that will work best.
How Long Do Engagement Photos Take To Get Back?
I know it’s hard to wait to see the photos. I totally get it! I feel the same way. That’s why I like to get them to you as soon as possible. My aim is always to have your photos done within one week. My timeline varies depending on how many sessions I have each week, but when possible, I like to have them done even sooner.
Where Should You Take Engagement Photos?
I love so many locations on the Central Coast for engagement pictures. There are a few that couples seem to really like. Morro Bay beach is a popular location because of the variety of backgrounds available.
Some couples choose their wedding venue for engagement photos. This is a great way to make sure your engagement photos “feel” the same as your wedding photos.
Wineries are another great option for your photos. Many wineries allow couples to come for photos at no charge. Be sure to check with the winery before heading out for photos. If they do charge, it can get pricey really fast.
